We are HELIFLIGHT Aviation
Grupo Lymber, a family-owned company which has operated mainly in the fishing market for more than 70 years, entered the aviation business, because of the required helicopter needs for their tuna fishing ship’s operations. In 1997, it acquired the company Heliflight, which initially focused on maintenance for their own fleet and third-party helicopters. In 2008, the group formalized its activities by acquiring 100% of the shares of Heliflight and established their business on aircraft rental with the purchasing of two helicopters, which would be operated and maintained by Heliflight Panama, to rent them to corporate and individual customers. Furthermore, in 2010 Heliflight acquired the exclusive distribution for Panama of the renowned brand of Eurocopter Helicopters, now Airbus Helicopters and certified their maintenance and repair station and task force located at the Marcos A. Gelabert Airport located at Albrook to offer their services for Airbus Helicopters customers.
The business opportunity to provide services to the copper mine, Minera Panama, in Panama, became possible and Heliflight started to acquire new and more powerful helicopters, the Airbus H125 and started to provide passenger, cargo transfers, and long-line precision cargo, becoming the only air transportation provider to the project.
Heliflight expanded its operations for passenger and cargo transfers to mines in Peru and for passenger transfers at the oil and gas PEMEX platforms in Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. To service all 3 markets, it acquired H120, H125, H130 and H135 Airbus helicopters. Over the years, Heliflight expanded its operations and added more services to meet the growing demands of the aviation industry offering charter flights within Panama and city tours. Being so passionate about aviation, the Board decided to expand operations in the fixed wing sector with the acquisition of 4 airplanes in total and an airplane hangar and FBO, joining an international network of FBOs, which enabled it to provide customers a broader range of services and access to more locations to customers, offering charter flights nationally and internationally out of Panama with Citations Ultra and Citation X, as well as Part 135 managed in the US with a Gulfstream G4.
The helicopter maintenance facility is certified by the Autoridad Aeronautica Civil - AAC of Panama and by the manufactures Airbus Helicopters and Robinson Helicopters Company as well as Safran Helicopter Engines for Airbus and Lycoming Engines for Robinson.
Currently, the Heliflight fleet consists of 15 aircrafts, including helicopters and airplanes, a helicopter maintenance and painting booth for the owned fleet as well as third party customer, an airplane repair station and an international FBO.
The partnership with Airbus and Robinson gave access to the latest technology and industry best practices, which we have incorporated into our operations. Today, Heliflight is a leading FBO operator in the region, with a reputation for excellence in customer service and safety. Heliflight continues to invest in facilities and people to ensure to meet the needs of customers and exceed their expectations. We are proud of our history and the relationships we have built with our clients over the years. We look forward to serving the aviation community for many more years to come.
